Our Story
In our previous life we ran a successful Environmental Building & Design business for 20 years. But that all changed in an instant. It wasn’t that long ago, this land was blackened and bare — the aftermath of the 2020 Currowan bushfires that swept through and destroyed our original cabin where our little family lived while we built our house, our office at the bottom of the property, our sheds full of building materials and the south side of our house In the quiet that followed, we began to rebuild — not just walls and windows, but a new way of living. One that prioritised simplicity, sustainability, and a deep connection to the place we call home.
Woodburn Eco Cabin is the result. It’s not just a structure, but a symbol. A space designed with intention — to honour the land, invite stillness, and offer guests a chance to reset. Every choice, from the sustainably produced, non-burning bricks and the Australian hardwood timbers to the solar PV with batteries and grid back up, is part of that bigger story. This cabin carries with it a sense of calm and quiet resilience — and we’re grateful to share it.
Meet Your Host
I’m Lucy — the hands and heart behind Woodburn. My husband Tony is the visionary, who planned for the future with imagination and wisdom. We live just down the path, tucked into the bush, where we keep a low profile so you can enjoy complete privacy during your stay. I created the interior of the cabin with the hope that others could experience what I love most about this place: the birdsong in the mornings, the glow of the fire at night, and the grounding feeling that comes from slowing down.
Hosting is deeply personal for me. I believe a great stay is about more than just what’s provided — it’s about how a place makes you feel. Here at Woodburn, I hope you feel welcomed, restored, and a little more connected — to nature, to yourself, and to what really matters.
